Bracketology: 90s Alternahits

With apologies (or thanks alots!) to Coachean (pronounced Co-Wah-Kean) I have become addicted to creating mini-brackets about almost everything I see. I became so obsessed with brackets, I purchased for myself, and the aforementioned dealer, a book called “The Enlightened Bracketologist.” I am now going to start sharing my brackets with you.

First up: Bracketology: 90s Alternahits
The 90s were all about finding the next new “Alternative” hit. With the success of Nirvana, Jane’s Addiction and other bands of a similar cut, record labels were signing any sensitive, thoughtful, angsty (but not too angsty) band to sell to teens who weren’t interested in discovering the recently mainstreamed Gangsta Rap. Shows like Party of Five, 90210, Dawson’s Creek and Felicity were featuring new music weekly. I can actually remember Dawson’s Creek having a list at the end of the show saying “Here are the artists featured in this week’s episode.” So here are the songs I think give a good sampling of that era. I tried to feature bands taht might be of the “one-hit-wonder” ilk. (links go to YouTube video).
